Flame retardant finishing

Solutions for pad application, the exhaust method, spraying, coating, kiss-roll, lamination, powder dot coating unit and screen printing. Selection must take into account the fibre, the construction of the material, the test method and the expected level of protection.

Properly selected flame retardants reduce the susceptibility of fabrics to ignition and slow flame spread, thereby raising the level of safety for users.

Our range includes solutions for different types of textiles and applications.

Application methods and product selection

Meritum's range includes flame retardants for various application methods — for pad application, the exhaust method, spraying, coating, kiss-roll, lamination, the powder dot coating unit and screen printing, as well as barrier materials for bonding to textiles.

Many products in the range contain no halogens (halogen free) and have been approved by OEKO-TEX (ACP listed).

In practice, technical textile materials very often have to combine several properties, for example flame retardancy and waterproofness. To meet such needs, our range includes ready-to-use productsthat combine different functions.

Giving textile materials flame-retardant properties is a complex process that requires the right balance between the properties of the material, the characteristics of the fire source (the test method) and the choice of flame retardant. Each combination of these factors is individual and requires detailed verification and the right selection of process parameters.

We fully understand that tests carried out directly on the production line can be time-consuming and costly, which is why we support our customers both in choosing the right product and in carrying out preliminary trials in our laboratory.
